ABOUT ME

From an early age, I developed an obsession with shoes, sports shoes to be exact. As a keen rugby player throughout my childhood, I became fascinated by the boots we were all wearing: why each one was different, which player should be wearing what, and how design affected performance. It reached the point where teammates would come to me for advice on which boots to buy. Later, as a footwear design student at university, I discovered fashion and the endless creative possibilities within footwear design.

Spending nearly 7 years then at Moda In Pelle I was able to fully grow as a designer, learning not just about design but all corners of the business. My experiences included designing of all product categories, at times leading a design team through full seasons, designing ranges for celebrity clients, signing off trend directions and full collections to CEOs and the owner and travelling to multiple countries for factories, fairs and design inspiration.

Since leaving Moda In Pelle, I’ve spent time travelling across Asia and Europe to broaden my creative mind and re fresh my ideas. In this time I have also been able to immerse myself in footwear production, visiting factories, leather tanneries and sole manufacturers. This is thanks to the strong relationships I’ve built, relationships that are now a vital part of my design process. I have been able to spend significant time on the factory floor and with suppliers, learning from craftsmen and material specialists. This hands-on exposure has deepened my understanding of the materials and construction methods that go into every shoe, and helps me design more intelligently and intentionally.
